Adventures in Morocco – Part 1

Exploring Morocco can expose you to new experiences, whether your focus is food, art, architecture or adrenaline.

Any time I am venturing into a new part of the world, I start with guidebooks to give me an overview. Morocco is no different. Check out guides from reputable experts, including Fodor’s,  Lonely Planet and Rough Guide.

Awareness of culture, customs and etiquette will also improve your chances of a great trip, including positive interactions with locals. Check out Morocco – Culture Smart! and Culture Shock! Morocco: A Survival Guide for pointers.

On that note, knowing the local language(s) positions you as a positive addition to the country. Check out this Moroccan Arabic phrasebook and a course that teaches you Darija (Moroccan Arabic) basics in 100 days. Beyond Arabic, mastering a few French phrases and words will be beneficial to your trip.

If you’re a foodie, you might want to check out this recipe book for more than 70 culinary options you could try in person.

Those who want to venture off the beaten track might want to check out the latest version of Morocco Overland for ways to explore the North African country via 4×4, motorcycle, mountain bike or van.

And if audio is one way you love to experience new cultures, check out the Rough Guide to the Music of Morocco.

Stay tuned for more ideas in my next post.
